Welcome to us!
The Rudi Family lives in Åsvang in Stange council, Hedmark county - in the middle of Norway about 2 hours north of the capital Oslo; in the woods at the border or the Romedal State Forest in Stange council.
We are 4 people in theis family - Anton (9 years old), Martin (10 years old), dad Jørgen (34 years old) and mom Evelyn (38 years old). We live in a little red house, we have 1 acre to ourselves and we have a huge workshop and a double garage. We love it here - wouldn't live any other place - we have the bright sun from sunup until sunset in the summer! We have all the wildlife you can imagine; wolves, bear, lynx and moose - in the woods that is. It's a quiet place where it's good for both kids and adults to live!
We live pretty close to the lake of Mjøsa, where we can swim, fish or anything else fun! Closer to home we have several smaller lakes, like Harasjøen which is only 30 feet deep at the deepest - a great place to fish or swim - and we have many other small "ponds" close to home. We have vast woods right outside our door and it's grand in the summer when we can explore the woods!
We love to travel around, and we went to the USA in September 2001 - with two small boys in diapers, mother-in-law, father-in-law and aunty. Our dream is to be able to go back one day to visit all the places we had to pass on our long way through 5 states.
We love the place we live, and we love our cottage in Valdres (2.5 hours west). In Valdres we can take long hikes in Jotunheimen (a national park - "The home of the Trolls"), fish in the river or just relax. The cottage is originally a small log cabin from the 1800's, but has got some attatchements to it. The kitchen was attatched and it was also built on a small bedroom when we got it back in 2000. We had to tear down the bedroom section due to fungus and rot and because it looked horrible. Jørgen built a new piece that looks much better and it larger. The cabin now is brand new inside and the old logs are only visible on the outside of the living room section. It's not very big, but it's livable and very cosy! We have a small living room, a kitchen, two bedrooms an hallway and a small washroom - just big enough for us!
